The anglican church in england was created so that King Henry VIII could annul his marriage. Pretty simple principle---dude wanted to get laid, pope wouldn't allow it, so he STARTED HIS OWN CHURCH!

Joe Smith was running out of money. So, he invented a story about some golden tablets and you have Mormonism which is just another christian cult---"If you don't believe as we do, you will burn in hell."
So, if I want to maim and rape, all I have to do is start my own church!
My point in this post is to point out the ridiculousness and incredible moral relativism of christianity. Anyone can reinterpret and rewrite the bible to suit their own ends. David Koresh did it so he could screw small girls and evade taxes, Henry VIII did it so he could annul his marriage, countless popes did it so they could take over land, commit genocide, segregate races, empower one group over another, etc.
Admittedly, all religions have done this to one end or another, but christianity takes the absolute cake on this.
